WOMEN ACCESSING CAPITAL
WIPP's Women Accessing Capital Program will provide the information and resources you need to break down the barriers between your business and money. The national program is designed to educate you on all steps of accessing capital including - understanding and evaluating funding sources, creating a strong application for capital, and managing and maintaining growth. As of 2014, there are nearly 9.1 million women-owned businesses in the United States, generating over $1.4 trillion in revenues and employing nearly 7.9 million people.*
Women Accessing Capital provides the necessary tools to secure the money that will support and grow your business.
The Need: According to a report released in July 2014 by the Senate Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship, women account for only 16% of conventional small business loans and 17% of SBA loans even though they represent 30% of ALL small companies. Of conventional small business loans, women only account for 4.4 percent of the total dollar value of loans for all sources. In other words, just $1 of every $23 in conventional small business loans goes to women-owned businesses.
The Plan: Women Accessing Capital training sessions begin by laying the foundation to evaluate if you are ready to seek funding, helping you identify your business objectives and get your financial and legal house in order. After the groundwork is complete, our curriculum helps you to review funding sources, understand what investors are looking for, and what you need to prepare for the application process.
The Team: Thank you to all the women that generously gave their time to help develop the curriculum and bring this program to you: Nicolina Stewart, Sydnee Stein, Mary Ellen Hickman and Aileen Pisciotta.
